Day 1104 (Y3D10)

Dear mommy,

We had a wonderful day today which started with our first recital!  After the culmination of weeks of practice for cheer class, we were able to perform with all of our friends!  We dressed up the same, listened to our teacher Ms. Ashley and rocked some moves.  Daddy was a bit of a helicopter parent, but other than that it was smooth sailing!

Here are some highlights from the event:

bunnies
dance prep
dance prep 2
dance 1
dance 2
dance 3
dance 4
dance 5

We are learning about endangered animals in class and tomorrow is zooniversity!

Daddy has been keeping track of some fun quotes and things we do:

Quotes:

  • "Don't look at me!" - Dinks to Mema when Mema was just looking at her during breakfast

Stuff they do:

  • Hide in the curtains of their bedroom during nap time and call the location their tent.
  • Wearing butterfly wings from aunt jessie and our blue and purple capes
  • Daddy says "2 min" before we trade and we count the time down on an Iphone timer or watch the clock tick up from say 3:15 to 3;17.

Ms Stancey came to take care of us while Mema and Daddy went to pound out miles for TEAM KIM!  When they returned we had blast doing maromas!  We had a great day!

We love you and miss you mommy!  We wish you could've seen our first recital.

Day 1103 (Y3D9)

Dear mommy,

We realize that we only have a couple more weeks to spend with our lovely family here in TX.  It makes us sad to think that we will be leaving so many people who share memories about you.  We guess we'll be back soon.

We had a wonderful time at school and swimming at Aunt Jessie's.  We are very picky about certain things though!

We are thinking good thoughts for LL's grandma.  We hope she goes through her treatment with flying colors!

We love you and miss you mommy!

Day 1102 (Y3D8)

Dear mommy,

We are really enjoying school and without swim lessons now, we can thoroughly enjoy soccer shots, endangered animal learning and still run around like crazy girls before falling asleep.  Tonight Ms. Stancey came to take care of us while mema, auntie jess and daddy went for a run.

We have really been enjoying the counting/search book that our friend LL and her parents got for us.  We fight over who gets to find monkeys, bunnies, seals and wormies.  Thanks LL!

Daddy was very moved by a recent article in the New Yorker about Edward Hirsch called A masterpiece of sorrow, a contemplative look at a contemplative man facing loss.  Daddy has been poring through the literature of loss, perhaps as a way of coping, but looking for insight in a process so incomprehensible as to render his search into a wholly real simulacrum of some kafka-esque character.  Still he found some delicious nuggets including, from the upcoming elegiac Gabriel:

I did not know the work of mourning
Is like carrying a bag of cement
Up a mountain at night
The mountaintop is not in sight
Because there is no mountaintop
Poor Sisyphus grief
I did not know I would struggle
Through a ragged underbrush
Without an upward path
...
Look closely and you will see
Almost everyone carrying bags
Of cement on their shoulders
That’s why it takes courage
To get out of bed in the morning
And climb into the day.

We thought we would share that with you!  We love you and miss you mommy!

Day 1101 (Y3D7)

Dear mommy,

It's back to monday and we had school after an extraordinarily fun weekend with all of our cuzzies, memas, aunties and uncles.  No daddy was fun for everyone since we're a little bit less demanding about daddy doing stuff for us.  During the weekend Aunt Jessie was at the top of the totem pole, unless Mema was around.

School was especially fun because we brought in cupcakes that we helped make with Aunt Jessie!  Everyone in class enjoyed them, and by everyone we mean especially us!  We're learning about endangered animals in class this week and for whatever reason, so many endangered animals are so cute!  We have been such good nappers while staying at school for nap time.

Daddy came home and we were so excited to see him.  Twinks could not stop nuggling with daddy which was very sweet.  Dinks was excited to see him but then promptly left to go play with Max's toys.  Even though we missed daddy, nothing beats ice cream!

We were excited when daddy and mema took us home and daddy stayed to tuck us in bed.  It was a long and exciting day.

We love you and miss you mommy!
