Day 1337 (Y3D243) 3/22/2015

Dear mommy,

Ok we had a wonderful night at the Holiday Inn but we hit the road today!  As little girls we were very excited to sit in a shuttle where we did not need our booster seats.  We took a tiny little plane to Tambor which was very exciting and gorgeous for us.  The Tambor airport was really nothing more than a tiny little airstrip and it was very hot when we got off the plane.  Luckily Aunt Ryan coordinated a car for us, who was waiting and ready for us to hop in to some air conditioning.  Twinks was very excited to sit in a booster seat but of course Dinks was very upset that she had to sit in her old car seat.  Uncle Ban drove and we watched the countryside which was exactly what you would imagine (sparse, small houses/shacks, jungly vegetation).  At some point we hit some roads that could be described as "less than modern".  Dusty, laden with potholes, it was quite the adventure.  Daddy and Uncle Ban got lost and we wound up on a crazy bumpy road to El Rio Negro.  We enjoyed the bumps but it was a little crazy how well the shocks held up in our 4x4.  Uncle Ban finally realized we were going to wrong direction when we had to cross the river.  We promptly turned around and daddy used his broken Spanish to get directions towards Santa Teresa.

Once we were all situated and pulled up into our house (Casa Kalafken), it was paradise.  Uncle Josh and Aunt Ryan had the whole place situated and the house was just paradise.  Beautiful rooms, a gorgeous open kitchen which overlooked a pool and further out onto the beach and ocean.  We were very excited about this trip.

Some highlights of the day - we went to the local "sports bar" for lunch and had a great time (cheering on Real Madrid vs Barcelona, which was the event of the year in Santa Teresa).  A howler monkey camped out in a tree above our house.  Chef Gui was cooking up a mighty storm.  But we were definitely tired and hit the sack relatively early... daddy too.

We had a great day and we love you and miss you!  It's weird but we could imagine that you were with us while down here.  You would've loved it mommy!

Here is our day:
