Day 754 (Y2D24) ChemoR1D5

This Tuesday we expressed ourselves by painting our legs with lots and lots of color. V and Mema were impressed with our skills. Needless to say we needed to take a bath before dinner. Before bed we delighted ourselves by eating as much watermelon as possible and wearing Mema's glasses.

Mom had a wonderfully low key day. Mema, Dad and the nurses kept her company at different times. A nursing assistant serenaded Mom and Mema with a very impressive iPhone karaoke rendering of Over the Rainbow.
By night, Mom completed her last infusions of this first and possibly only induction chemo round.

Mom is happy to have hair for at least a few more days. Hair is fun. She tried to poof it up as big as possible to see how much it has really grown in the last 17 months. The chemotherapy side effects still remain almost nonexistent but the slight truck-hitting feeling has started setting in.

Mom started gathering lots of information about stem cell transplant centers thanks to all of who have responded to her call for information and contacts. She is starting to get a better sense of how the next year could be but then again, one step at a time feels like a better way to think and ride this journey called life.
