Day 771 (Y2D41) ChemoRl

Friday was full of good tidings and reason for celebration!

Happy Birthday Buo Buo! We are so glad we live closer to you, dear uncle!

Mom found out today that she has graduated from induction! Thus is a huge first hurdle that is worthy of much celebration especially since 50% of relapsed AML statistically does not respond to the initial induction chemotherapy treatment. As Daddy's birthday plates said, 'Wooo-hoooo!!!!'

The doctors told Mom the good news during morning rounds. For now, Mom will not need another inpatient MEC induction round and once her counts recover in the coming days, she can be discharged and come home to us!

Mom, although we have gotten quite used to seeing you weekly in person and in Dad's phone during meals and at bedtime, we miss your physical daily presence in our little lives! Please, we'd like you to come home.

Mom's most recent biopsy shows 1% blasts in her marrow (down from 4% the week before and 90% three weeks ago at relapse) and there are cells present that are maturing. The report confirms there are no blasts circulating in her peripheral blood! This is all excellent news.

Today we ran around the house and babbled in our own language. Daddy played us music during dinner while we ate V's tasty morsels. We enjoyed listening to 'Twinkle Twinkle' and reading the 'Wheels on the Bus' at bedtime with Daddy and Aunt Jessie. We are both obsessed with applying Aquaphor on our skin. One can never have enough petroleum jelly.

Here's Mom's Day:
