Day 974 (Y2D244) +156 BMT - Mommy is transitioning to comfort care

Dearest mommy,

We love you.  We are saddened to hear about the results of the bone marrow biopsy and that your marrow is not recovering and there is some evidence of disease returning.  We are so sorry mommy.  Poor daddy is having a tough time with this because we have really run out of treatment options.  Daddy has decided to transition to total comfort care so that you are as comfortable as possible as you get ready for life's next step.  It is too soon and we think that your life will be abruptly shortened way too soon.  We also know that you really believe that you have lived an extraordinary life full of love, friends, family, achievements and that there are no regrets.  It is just for us and daddy and all of your loved ones that will miss out on you, unbelievable you, bigger than life you.  While you get comfortable we will continue to be thinking of you, visiting you and loving you until the end of time.

Auntie Lin and Uncle Dave flew in to spend time with you.  We have had an outpouring of love from everywhere around the world.

Words can't express how much you mean to us.  You will leave a legacy that will ripple and grow for the rest of our lives.

We love you Mommy.

  5. I don't know the words to say or write, except that I love you guys and hold you in my heart and in my prayers. I remember so fondly your visit to Santa Cruz in December and that amazing day we spent together! Kim is such a beautiful light in this world - her joy, passion, laughter, smile and energy is infectious and makes all those around her better. I feel so fortunate to have had the privilege of sharing time with Kim. Love you guys.
